Black Bean (Douchi)

Black Bean (Douchi) is made by fermenting and salting soybeans. The process turns the beans black, soft, and mostly dry. The flavor is sharp, pungent, and spicy in smell, with a taste that is salty and somewhat bitter. Unlike some other fermented soybean-based foods such as natto or tempeh, douchi is used only as a seasoning, and is not meant to be consumed in large quantities, being typically much more salty.

Peanut Sauce or Satay Sauce

Peanut Sauce or Satay Sauce The main ingredient is a roasted peanut-based paste such as peanut butter, which together with soy sauce gives it a nutty and salty taste. A typical recipe usually contains peanut butter (smooth or crunchy), coconut milk, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and spices (such as coriander seed, cumin, etc). Other ingredients may also contain chili peppers, sugar, milk, fried onions, sesame seed, olive oil or peanut. Satay may be served with a spicy peanut sauce dip.

Szechuan

Szechuan Sichuan peppercorn is commonly used; it is an indigenous plant producing peppercorns with a fragrant, numbing, almost citrusy flavor. Also common are chili, ginger and other spicy herbs, plants and spices. Broad bean chili paste is also a staple seasoning in Sichuan cuisine. meal can be prepared by using one of three methods, braising, stir-fry, or Steaming.

Egg Foo Young

Egg Foo Young is an omelette dish found in UK and American Chinese cuisine. Egg foo young is derived from Fu Yung Egg Slices, an authentic Chinese recipe from Shanghai.

Chow Mein

Chow Mein is soft fried noodles with mixed vegetables and your chosen meat. Best to eat on its own or serve with rice.

Chop Suey

Chop Suey dishes have beansprouts, bamboo shoots and waterchestnuts, onions, carrots in a gravy sauce. Most customers enjoy eating with fried rice, or on its own.

Sweet and Sour Sauce

Sweet and Sour Sauce is a sauce which combines both sweet and sour flavours, creating a distinctively tangy mouthfeel. Many people associate this dish with Chinese cuisine, but in fact many cultures have a tradition of blending sweet and sour flavours in a variety of ways: cranberry sauce, for example, a New World food, is technically a form of sweet and sour sauce. There are a number of ways to prepare and use sweet and sour sauce, and it is widely used all over the world.

Oyster Sauce

Oyster Sauce is a flavourful, savory sauce which is Chinese in origin. As the name implies, oyster sauce is traditionally made with oysters, although it is also possible to find vegetarian versions. There are a number of ways to use this piquant sauce, making it a useful addition to one’s Asian sauce cupboard.

English Food

All our English chip shop food is fried in the same oil. We sell 2 different curry flavours, mild curry and spicy curry. Our mild curry is a ‘chip shop’ flavour curry sauce and contains fruity bits. Our spicy curry is a smooth, Chinese flavour curry. Our mild curry is not vegetarian but our spicy curry is. Our gravy is not vegetarian as it contains meat stock in the ingredients.
